Maytag - Horrible quality and reliability
Maytag front load washer - Complaint

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- Do not buy Maytag washers! in the 6 years we have owned ours it has had several failures and a recall. multiple problems include front door lock?latch failure, fire hazard recall, and now the motor and water pump have failed! tie for a new machine as the repair is in excess of $700.00. please do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY MAYTAG GARBAGE!

Standards have gone down since Whirlpool purchased them. Consolidated production facilities and no differentiation.

I have a considerable amount of background in appliances and can hopefully provide some insight to your letter.
Unfortunately, you fail to provide the exact model you are experiencing problems with. This is helpful in that Maytag was it's own company several years ago. Under this company, they produced a line of front-loading washers called the Neptune. There were several models of the Neptunes, some of which had a considerable amount of problems. Others, however, were engineered brilliantly. To make a rather long story short, Whirlpool bought out the Maytag name, making all the Maytag labels Whirlpool's. Whirlpool had already become very well known for the Duet line of washers and continued to improve upon this design under the Maytag label. Their products have consistently been awarded some of the best in their particular industries by such companies as Consumer Reports and J.D. Powers. Pretty impressive to say the least.
This doesn't mean that any particular brand or model won't run into individual problems. By no means is Maytag immune to such problems. But I wouldn't hesitate buying another one. Take a look at a line they call the Maximas. They have a considerably large capacity and impressive features. If that isn't the perfect fit, consider the 94HE, 96HE or Whirlpool 97HE models. These Whirlpool products offer a wide variety of options and at pretty respectable pricing.

have a maytag WHWE450WW02, TUB BEARING IS SCREAMING AT 13 MONTHS, MAYTAG WILL NOT COVER REPAIR ONLY SUPPLY BEARING, LABOR IS MORE THAN WASHER IS WORTH, ABSOLUTLY GARBAGE...DO NOT BUY MAYTAG!!!!
