Sherman Dodge Complaint - Car theives disguised as mechanics

Review by abigail.sheridan
SKOKIE, IL -- Jan, 1999 I took my car to Sherman Dodge on a Friday morning to get my brakes repaired. They called on Friday night to say they'd have to keep the car over the weekend and I could come get it on Monday. Monday morning they call me to tell me that, gee, over the weekend, someone broke into my car and stole my stereo. They said it happened to another car too. They told me that they were not liable since they have signs posted all over saying they are not responsible for anything stolen from the cars. YES, even items WIRED and BOLTED into the car. I mean, why don't they just return the car to me on cinder blocks and shrug if that is the case??? Funny thing about the thieves...aparently they had time and tools to take it out with ease as the dashboard stereo part was just laying in one piece nicely on the passenger seat, the screws were together nicely in the cup holder and NOTHING else was taken. I had a Nautica jacket in the trunk, cds on the floor, cell phone charger...all prime car thieve candy. So...after calling everyone I could, Better Business Bureau, Chrysler, Service Manager and owner of the dealership...I had to give up because I was getting nowhere and time and money were becoming more valuable than the cost of the stereo. THE KICKER to this whole story is the owner had the NERVE to call the next day and say he felt bad and said he had a "friend" and could arrange for me to buy the same stereo for a discounted price and they would put it in for me!!!! GEE...what is the going rate for my own used stereo???? DO NOT GO TO SHERMAN DODGE in SKOKIE, IL
