PALM CITY, FLORIDA -- I do not appreciate when I hear any older person being inquired, do you have a rewards card" poor lady did not comprehend, everyone in the drug store heard this, maybe she was hard of hearing but none of the other customers, including me liked anyone dismissing this vital lady, but she was your age Chuck Walgreen and if anyone yelled at me,

Rewards, Rewards, well I am from Chicago. I am a lady until you push me so far, but this lady to me was like a mother figure, fragile, and would you yell at your own mom, not me, and hopefully not you, if anyone ever yells at me in line, well... I don't believe anyone would.. My Husband knew Chuck Walgreens, a gentleman. and employees should, how we be gentle and kind and think of all these people as our family, how we treat our family and how we would like to be treated..

I was asked the same stupid question. I was buying a bottle of aspirin where the shelf price said in big numbers $5.49. She rings up $7.50. The I come to find out you need a "Rewards Card" to get that price. LAST TIME I SHOP AT WALGREEBS!

I don't go for this "rewards" BS. Quit treating me like a 7 year old. I tolerate it at my grocery store to avoid paying double. But that's where it ends...the grocery thing here requires that you visit all the various stores or you'll get robbed. Very important when you aren't on food stamps.

But Walgreens is a drug store and my purchases there are a private mattter, not to be sent all around the marketing department someowhere for a bunch of dopes to look at. And where's the markdown on prescriptions?

Screw your rewards card you idiots. That's why I left CVS. Put a price on the stupid thing no matter who buys it, and by the way, fire most of those expensive and useless marketing people and lower your prices if you really want to compete.

Charles Rudolph Walgreen (October 9, 1873 – December 11, 1939) was an American businessman who founded Walgreens.

I am guessing that this was very loud, and maybe with an impatience that the woman could not understand, because asking for a rewards card is a normal thing to do.

Sometimes each of us has challenges with patience. It is a virtue.

I thought of my dad when I read this. I know he's hard of hearing and I have seen him struggle many, many times with employees so I am sensitive to what may be your complaint. On that note I wish every company had sensitivity training on how to better serve the elderly. I also HATE places where you have to pull out some stupid card to get a lower price. I have enough going on with out digging out yet another stupid card. I avoid these stores whenever possible. And other then the club stores I don't give my real information anyway. The last thing I need is more junk mail and annoying telemarketing calls.

You can tell Walgreens about this via http://www.walgreens.com/mktg/contactus/contact-us-landing.jsp?foot=contact_us

I gather from the original post that it appeared the elderly woman was being yelled at or spoken to in a loud voice. I can understand the frustration at witnessing this, but had I been the witness, I would have confronted the clerk about their behavior.

What if the elderly woman DID have a rewards card, and the cashier didn't ask her because of her age, and the woman forgot to use it? Then she would be missing out on the points. Let the cashier do their job. They are required to ask every customer, regardless of age. And not every elderly person is hard of hearing

Shame on them. They could have shown her a card or pointed at one of their many many Rewards Card advertisements. I hate it when people are impatient with our seniors. waltkraus, if you see that happen again, step up and let them scan yours and give the clerk the piercing look of instant death. I scan for people all the time (and steal their points...lol).

First we are required to ask. We don't have a choice. We are told what to say, how to say it, and when to say it. Second, all stores have cards now. Even grocery stores. Yet no one minds that. Quit yelling at us service clerks. We don't have any choice in this matter.

All stores do not have cards namely Market Basket and Wally World.
