JCPenny - SPAM/Surveys

FLORENCE, SOUTH CAROLINA -- I recently went to my JCPenny's store in Florence, SC and I was asked to supply them a contact number or e-mail address. So, I went along with them. I recently moved back to Florence so that was the reason I was given for asking for this info. BIG MISTAKE!I also recently bought a computer and it's a month old and I have received NO SPAM. Until I gave my info to JCPenny. Now, I am loaded with spam daily. I called the home office and all they where able to do for me is to remove me from THEIR e-mail list but I am stuck with the hundreds of spam I am now receiving thanks(or NO THANKS )to my local JCPenny.

All I wanted was to buy nice clothing and be able to know that the staff would help me select the correct sizes in the men's formal clothing area. Boy, did I get more than I wanted.

Beware giving your info out to stores for you will be receiving a lot of unwanted e-mails and spam in the VERY near future. With that being said I am very satisfied with my purchases and some of the service, but giving my info out to the cyber world...SUCKS!I have had ID theft 2 times. It started in 1985 and I am continuing to have to send documents to various companies all the time including the IRS, every year. BEWARE you do not have to give your info out they can take it at anytime from any of your many different type cards, bot awards cards and your credit cards and also your drivers license.

What kind of spam emails are you getting? Are these product offers from JCP and their affiliates, or random emails from companies offering random things?

Most large companies are pretty protective of their email database and don't sell them to spammers - if you are getting true spam, chances are you got on a list by chance. The worst offenders will not even know if you address is real unless you open one of the emails and then they will send tons more and sell to other spammers.

Does your email provider has a spam filter? If set appropriately this will help a lot.
