General Electric Company - GE Counter Top Microwave Paint Chipping Off Inside

Complaint
Review by Kathy W. on 2012-12-28
Rating: StarStarEmpty StarEmpty StarEmpty Star
My 2yr old counter top microwave from GE has paint chipping off the top inside roof, the turning wheel has paint chipped off all the way around the circle and there are other places beginning to chip.
GE said they can give me $50 for the $145+ microwave and nothing else.

Does anyone else have this problem ? Did GE provide you with replacing the microwave ?

as fast as technology progresses, i replace my counter top appliances about every 2 or so years. maybe it is time to replace it with a different brand. i know the 'all stainless steel' inside models are top dollar, but you will avoid the paint issue.

Personally, I think I would take the $50 and run the other way. The finish shouldn't be chipping off after a measly two years. I have a GE microwave that is 17 years old, and it works and looks great.

Is it still under any form of warranty? If not, anything they offer is better than nothing.

I'm talking to them right now they offered me a new microwave with shipping tax installation for 166.It seems like a good business model, make inferior products then have consumer buy another inferior product and pay for it..Still thinking if I shud take it or leave it..

That's too bad-don't know why it's chipping but if you want to go cheap you can repaint it-there's m/o spray paint avail for these type problems. go to appl parts store.
