JEFFERSON, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- I purchased boots for my daughter....after 1-2 hours of wear on a carpeted floor, she was in agony...I tried to bring them back and they refused to take them, or give us ANY satisfaction at all...neither would their headquarters...I wouldn't buy so much as a lone shoe-string from them...if you do, well, you've been warned.

With respect, that isn't common for Famous Footwear. Their posted policy allows returns, but must be with the original box and packaging. Returns must be in like new condition and returned with the original credit card that the purchase was made on.

The only other condition I can think of is that the purchase was on clearance merchandise and sold as non-returnable.

I'd like to hear the reason why.

I've "been warned," but I'm not sure of what.

The crux of this complaint is the reason the return was denied, and why you disagreed with it.

I'm thinking the OP told them the shoes were worn (that her daughter wore them and was in "agony" after 2 hours) and that is why the denied the return. I haven't looked up FF's return policy but I was verbally told by a manager that they don't accept returns on shoes that have been worn. I was on the fence about buying a pair of running shoes and when he told me that, I went elsewhere for the shoes.

It sounds fair. You can go home and try them on and walk for a few minutes like you would do when you try them in a store but 2 hours is a bit much. I wouldn't want to buy "new" shoes that someone had worn for 2 hours. If pain was a legitimate reason to return a pair of shoes I'd worn, my closet would be down to my flip flops and cowboy boots.
