Whirlpool - Front load washers

laundry - Complaint

I purchased a Whirlpool front load washer and dryer from a local store. I was not told about the mold that gets in the washer. You must CLEAN the washer once a month. It stinks if you don't and you must leave the door OPEN as they say ALL THE TIME...which I cannot do because of the location of the washer. I have enough house cleaning to do and do not need more!!Please let everyone know about this. Most of us that purchase them without knowing have be spreading the word. But I'm sure some do not know about it. The washer and dryer WORK fine. They sell cleaning products to do the cleaning job. More money to spend when it is getting scarce for me.

I like The Duet (Whirlpool front load) line of washers. In order to handle the mildew smell, very simply wipe you the boot after a batch of laundry then just leave the door very slightly ajar -- you do not have to keep the door completely open.

We have a front loader, too, but our salesperson made sure we knew about this. What I do--I use an absorbent piece of clean laundry to wipe the rubber gasket and the door when transitioning from washer to dryer. Or an absorbent piece of dirty laundry.

Ours is in an unfinished basement, though, so having the door open is no big deal.

Check online. I think you can use vinegar and/or baking soda to clean the washer. Just make sure to wipe it out after every load!
