Car Battery - Complaint
My garage installed a crown automotive battery just less then 3 years ago. It died yesterday (Saturday). As my garage was closed, I went to manufacturers website crownbattery.com. Their they boast about the quality, workmanship and the guarantee. No details at all about the length of the guarantee. Kinda strange don't you think? Seems returns not something they want to talk about even though they claim they make the best battery.
I checked on the net and found out Wal-Mart's MAXXX battery has great reviews, also $50 less then what I paid for the Crown battery. Wal-Mart also gives a 3 year guarantee of no charge replacement and free roadside assistance.
Wish I knew this 3 years ago.
Update, I spoke to the customer service at Crown this morning, they told me they give no specific warranties on their car batteries. The warranty is given by the the end seller, ie my garage. I spoke to my garage and I was told 18 months for a full replacement after that the refund is prorated over 6 years. Of course the garage will charge to install the new one which I can do myself, so bottom line it is not worth the effort. I will go Wal-Mart this morning and have a 3 year full refund warranty and free roadside assistance during that period.
I installed the new Wal-Mart battery into my BMW 528I and noticed this battery was much heavier then the Crown Battery. To me this translates to better quality. Car started first shot.
