Safeco Insurance - Buy Homeowners Coverage From Mercury - Not Safeco.
Safeco Homeowners Insurance - Complaint
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- I live in a condominium in Santa Monica. There is another condo unit above mine. On 12-11-2012 the bathtub in the unit above mine overflowed for about an hour, sending many, many gallons of water cascading into the floors, ceiling, tile floor and carpeted area of my unit. Safeco is the insurance company for the homeowner who owns the unit above mine which caused the damage.
Safeco was notified about noon on 12-11-2012 of the catastrophe, and was repeatedly requested to send Servepro or some other company out to start cleaning up and making repairs. Safeco IGNORED me until I requested assistance from the California Insurance Commissioner, and then it took them until 12-31-2012 to send an inspector. Mold began growing. As of this date (1-10-2013) Servepro has yet to do ANYTHING to assist me! I finally asked my own homeowners insurance (Mercury) to help.
I suggest that you buy Safeco ONLY if you want to end up in a lawsuit, because when a claim is made it seems to me that Safeco will abandon its insureds and cause a lawsuit to be filed against their insureds.
