DOWNEY, CALIFORNIA -- I have an aunt who needs surgery. She has a slipped disc and other back related injuries that require surgery she has bee given the run around since 3/2012. She is sent to different Dr's who take x rays and determine she needs the surgery. She was finally told the surgery was to be scheduled 11/2012. When she goes to the surgeon to what she thought was the dr. Reviewing and what would be done she gets there and the dr. Tells her (after waiting since 3/2012 to get the surgery done) he is no longer with caremore so he will not be doing the surgery( she could have been told that on the phone). Sometimes her pain is so bad she cannot walk or get out of bed. Then last week she was sent to a Dr in Beverly hills ca(she's coming from bellflower ca)her appt was 9:30 she was not seen till 12:00 only to be told by the dr. That from her x-rays she definitely needs the surgery however he cannot do not surgery because he is not approve by caremore( then why did caremore send her there?). I do not know what to do to help her!

Have her call Caremore and ask them for a list of surgeons that are approved to do her surgery. You could also find them on their website. When you call to make the appointment, confirm over the phone that the physician is in-network.

As a Canadian with universal health care, I have never experienced these problems. We can choose any doctor, any time with no co-pays or long waits. My heart goes out to your aunt. She certainly deserves better care. I pray Obamacare will end this stress for you all!
