WALNUT, CALIFORNIA -- I have a like page for KFC on Facebook. The page runs contest and they offer coupons for the fans of the page. There was a contest that came up on my page and it stated that if I post like on one of there links, and then posted "Thanks KFC" to my Facebook page, I would get a gift certificates adding up to 250 dollars. I did this, and the link wouldn't let me move on to the claim prize page. I did this four times. And each time, the KFC logo and "Thanks KFC" posted on my Facebook page. I messaged there Facebook page to ask them what was going on. I also asked if I had entered the contest or won the contest, since it was counting down that I would be one of the winners. I was informed that the contest wasn't for anyone in California. The link didn't say anything about that on it's page. They didn't say sorry for the mistake or take the link off there Facebook page. I contacted there in Victorville CA. office and let them know what had happen. I still haven't heard from them either. Don't fall for anything that KFC post on Facebook. It's a game to get you to post on your page to help sell KFC.

I have found that MANY companies does this type of thing on Facebook. I think it's just their way to get a bunch of 'likes' to make them look more popular than they really are.

Since there is no requirement that information on Facebook (or anything online, for that matter) has to be factual or reliable, people and companies can pretty much post anything they want to.

That was likely a phishing effort to get your personal information by someone who as hacked the KFC FB page. NEVER enter something like that, especially if it makes you "allow" an app or redirects to another page.

I don't think that just by posting something, you get "a gift certificates that adding up to $250." KFC would go bankrupt in about 1 day.

You either were the target of a phishing scheme, or this is some hackneyed social media scheme by KFC. If I were a customer or friend of KFC, which I most definitely am not, I actually wouldn't hold it against them. SM seems like one great big scheme in the first place.

Do you have a link to this offer? All I could find was a current $250 gift card program in Canada...
