Whirlpool Water Heaters Are Terrible and So Is the Company!

Whirlpool Gas Water Heaters - Complaint

MICHIGAN -- My husband and I purchased a brand new water heater from Lowe's. From the day we purchased it has not worked properly. The pilot light will go out 7-8 times a day.

We called a service company that said there are pages upon pages of complaints online about this product. Lowe's told us we would have to get an "RA" number to get a refund and all Whirlpool does is play games, you have to talk to a manager to get the RA number, and they won't let you talk to a manager or call you back!

I would think in this day and age there would be better consumer protection against selling faulty products. I believe there was even
a recall with this product yet Lowe's continues to sell them.
Unbelievable!

Whirlpool's water heaters are not bad in any way, however, they are not actually produced by Whirlpool. They are a labeled brand, produced by a different company altogether.

With respect, you've left out how long it's been since your purchase. If the heater is still under warranty, they will generally cover a service call for the same problem two or three times. Each time they do, they reimburse the service center for their time, so it's by no means free. At that point, they'll generally agree that the product is a 'lemon' and authorize a replacement.

An RA being provided directly to the consumer is not very common and something the retailer will normally deal with if the product is found to be faulty within the first two weeks to 30 days of purchase.

Wish I had more information to help, but for what it's worth, Whirlpool really does have a good water heater.
