Medco Mail Order Ripoff

FAIRFIELD, OHIO -- I called Medco worried because I knew my health insurance was going thru the roof after the 1st of the year and I needed to get my 90 supply ordered before that happened. I was told several times that my order would be requested on December 28th and sent out after the first of the year, but not to worry because it would still be processed under my old insurance.

I called again before the end of the year and was told everything was fine... called again after the first and was told everything was good but it had not shipped yet... called again today and was told they were going to process it under the new insurance and instead of costing $90 it was going to be over $1000 and there was nothing they were going to do about it!!!

This company lied to me and drug their feet in order to delay the processing and get a bunch more money. Too bad I don't have it and I have no idea how I am going to be able to continue paying for my meds at this price.

One thing is for sure, Medco will never see another dime of my money and I will post this message anywhere I can find to put it!

Medco is a good company.

Your issue appears to have a lot to do with your insurance, and it isn't clear there was any intent on the part of Medco to defraud you.

I used to order using the 90-day supply all the time. They can't ship that until you have a limited supply on hand by law I believe, which is why they gave you a future date.

As to what happened in this window of only a few days, it isn't clear. What date did you call and you were told everything was ok? I would have called on the 28th or 29th to see it had been processed.

Using a mail order pharmacy can be very convenient, but when things are time sensitive it can be a pain.

I just started using Medco a few months ago and noticed that they are slow to process prescriptions. They really dropped the ball in your case. You took the time to call, verify and confirm that your 90 day supply would be processed on time. There is nothing else you could have done, you trusted them.

I don't believe that they intentionally delayed your order. Surely they realize if you were paying $90 your not going to pay them $1000. Shop around, you can do better.

Trusting Medco with your prescriptions is like trusting the Federal Government with your taxes. they are going to do what is in their best interests, not yours.

You have to use a certain percentage of your medications before you can order another refill. Sounds like you were ordering too soon for the meds to be shipped.
