Maytag Washer Is Garbage

Maytag Centennial Washer - Complaint

SIMPSONVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA -- This washer moans, groans, clicks, and walks. The user has no control over how much water is needed, and some loads have dry clothes in the middle. I have been washing clothes for 65 years and this is, without a doubt, the worst washer I have ever used.

If it actually got my laundry clean, I could put up with the weird noises.

Respectfully, a lot of older people have a more difficult time becoming accustom to the new design of high efficient washers on the market. All of these designs are produced without using a great deal of water. They use approximately a fourth of the traditional design. The washing takes place by pumping the water and detergent from the bottom of the tub, showering the top of the laundry and allowing gravity to move the moisture back through the fabrics and to the bottom again.

I couldn't comment on, what you find to be, unusual noises; however the unit shouldn't have a problem with walking. The Maytag Centennial uses something referred to as MCT, or Maytag Commercial Technology. Among other things, this includes a better set of suspension which should keep the washer from walking even on poorly supported, secondary floors. If it is doing this, along with what you've described as unique noises, I would have it checked out by an authorized service tech. It's very possible that something has happened to the suspension and support, thus causing the noises and issues with cleaning.

Best of luck and let us know what a tech may find.

I have a Maytag Bravo, and I gotta say we love it. I think I know what OP means about the noise. It is not loud at all, it just isn't the traditional swish-swish noise you think a washer ought to make. Instead, I believe what you hear is the pump spinning up, and it sounds like a soft groan.

The washer performs beautifully.
