Is there more to the what happened, for example what "damages" means?

Were you there for only one night, or on an extended stay? Can you describe the "damages" that were alleged by Motel 6 management?

I believe there is much more to this story than being told. The fact that the location was holding ID, clothing and valuables gives the impression that the patron was locked out of the room, perhaps for non payment.

Usually, when one stays for a number of days at a low-end motel, often times it's a homeless person or other transient whose stay is paid for by a charity or a government/social service agency, and they're kicked out of the room for one reason or another (noise, smoking in a non-smoking room, leaving the room unclean, etc.), or they're locked out when there is no more funds to pay for additional days. Once I spent the night at a Days Inn in Dayton, OH (I was there for a computer expo), and the management there was obviously sheltering charity cases there...since I have seen at least a few people by the pool that seemed "out of place", to put it nicely.
