Sears Complaint - Elliptical home installation
92104 -- It started on January 12, 2006 when I ordered an elliptical trainer for home use. The elliptical was delivered on time. The following morning a tech was supposed to come out and and put it together. The appointment was scheduled between 8-10 a.m. The tech called @ 9:30 a.m. to let me know he wasn't coming due to an emergency. I was directed to contact the installation service. I contacted the service and left a message. The installation service contacted me and left a message stating that I leave a message if the following Saturday between 3-5 p.m. was an acceptable time for installation. I did just that. I followed up to confirm the appointment. Saturday comes and once again no tech. I contacted the service yet again only to be told in a very rude manner that I was "not down" in their book. I was asked again for my information in an abrupt fashion. I decided at that point not to have any further dealings with this company. I found out the hard way that Sears only has 3 installation services in this area and all of them use the tech that stood me up. In an area as large as San Diego, I find this to be unacceptable. I will never again purchase anything from Sears that requires installation while living in this area. Although I have been assured of a full refund, I am very unhappy with the way things have turned out. I did not want to return the elliptical. In addition, I spent hours on the phone with Sears Installation and time waiting for the tech to wind up with nothing. I think the whole situation is beneath the reputation of Sears and should be looked into.
