Intercontinental Hotels Group Complaint - No Service at the Intercontinental Hotels

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- In my 35 years of business travel, I have never ever encountered such rude and unreasonable service as I received from the Intercontinental Hotels Group. Last December I made a reservation at the North Holywood Holiday Inn for several days. A week before the trip I caught a bad case of flu and so I called the hotel to cancel. I was told that my reservation was non-cancelable...After recovering from the inital shock I tried to explain that the bad flu is a force majeur and that I would have never have made a non-cancelable reservation in the first place ! especially not in the Los Angeles area which has practically unlimited hotel rooms!!!
My reasoning impressed no one. I then continued with my complaint all the way to the Intercontinental CEO but kept getting a computer generated, plastic response...They did not even care that I told them my company is a yearly customer for hundreds of rooms. They did not even care when I told them I gave an order to my employees to avoid the Intercontinental hotel group. Whatever I said, was replied with the same "copy-paste" text!! Just unbelievable how stupid their Service people are and how bad their service is. Since that inceident, I have made it a point to spread the word to as many people I know so that they will avoid staying in a hotel that, at the end of the day, cares nothing about them, but only about making few lousy dollars.

If Los Angeles has "practically unlimited hotel rooms" why did you bother to make a reservation in the first place?

Yacov:For future reference, when you check out their policies make sure it states "Non-refundable". I don't think you'll see Non-cancelable too often. Just trying to be helpful.
