Home Depot - Dishwasher Installation

Complaint

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- I purchased a Dishwasher from the Home Depot along with the installation. When the item arrived the installers told me they could not install the dishwasher because there was not shut off valve and that I would have to hire a plumber. Instead of asking me to shut off the main water supply they took my old dishwasher out, installed the new one and left. When I contacted Home Depot and expressed my concerns they told me I would have to pay a 15% restocking fee for them to take the new dishwasher away.

A plumber was called so I had to pay an additional $100.00!
I could have turned the main water supply off and had the install done by a plumber myself had I known they would do this to me.

Home Depot is a rip off! Never again will I shop or support there stores!

Buyers Beware!

I think you will find that the shutoff is required by your local building codes, and that they probably could not legally have done the installation. I would have hired a plumber to do the entire installation in the first place. It almost certainly would have been less expensive.

I was about to state the exact same thing as Ob. The turnoff is required for most building codes.
