LEWISTON, MAINE -- Amerigas is a perfect example of a large corporation buying out local small business then closing it down and laying off the local workers. My gas provider was a local company and then Amerigas bought them out and closed the local company. I didn’t realize this until I ran out of gas, which I never did in over 10 years with the small company, and when I called the local small gas company I was directed to Amerigas. They said that I was put on a new status where I was suppose to call when I was low on gas.

Well I asked how do I know if I am low, there is no gauge on the tank, they did not have an answer and said I would receive a delivery the next day, they even called in the morning to confirm the delivery, which never showed. Calling the emergency number that evening I was told that a truck was never scheduled for my area. Mind you it has been below zero out. They said I needed to call the local office in the morning and find out what happened. To say the least, this company is a joke, all of the people I talked to were clowns. If you need reliable gas provide, stick with a local.

Amerigas is different, there is no question. It isn't surprising to hear they bought your supplier and they never told you, and in the process put you on a "will call" program.

If you are using propane to heat, your tank should be large enough to have a gauge. It is strange that it doesn't.
