BEDFORD, VIRGINIA -- I changed my cars over to State Farm a few months ago because my homeowners are with them Ive been with nationwide for over 15 years,. Perfect driving record.

I also own a car with my mom also with nationwide on another separate policy. The first letter was the cancellation of the policy on my moms car with nationwide, I got that straight in no time and was told that State Farm mailed them a letter stateing to close MY policy and my MOMS also.

Moms is still safe with nationwide no thanks to State Farm...then I get a letter today stateing they cancelled my insurance 2 weeks ago...reason because they haven't gotton drivers info on my moms and I's car. which is NOT with them!...It also questioned an accident my hubby had in 2011 at work in a college work truck were a lady hit them all in the rump. Clearly not the college trucks fault..Not only did they cancel on us without proper notification. But no one with the big office can fix it. Leaving us stranded at home a full weekend with no insured vehicles except my mothers who thank god is still with nationwide...No one gave them permission to cancel anything at any time. I cancelled my nationwide once the State Farm was paid within an hr...I guess I should be thankful they didn't know I had motorcycles with Progressive, huh?..I don't want statefarm to fix this, I now want as far away from them as I can get....beware people youll be sorry!

State Farm is a great company. I've been with them over 30 years. One of the things that is very good is they keep premiums low by not getting into risky situations.

Your issue is not an uncommon one. State Farm is picky about drivers and cars within the same household, for good reason. Any driver could possibly drive any car.

The person you need to speak with is your agent, not we people on the internet. They work Saturday mornings - I drove past mine today. You will have to call Monday morning - it's just bad timing.

I'm' not sure how it works in Virginia, but in PA you can stack your uninsured and underinsured motorist benefits from one vehicle to another if the vehicle belong to the same household. Having drivers on different policies in the same house or having someone own a car not with their spouse may lead to logistical problems if there is a claim. If you cannot get any satisfaction from your agent, you may need to contact the insurance department for Virginia. Good luck.
