I am 70 years old and wanted a new washer that would last me. I mistakenly believed those lying commercials and bought Maytag. I do regret tha purchase. This washer moans, groans, clicks, doesn't get clothes clean and takes forever. I cannot afford another washer, but I WILL LET EVERYONE know....do NOT buy Maytag.

Welcome to "Kremlin-inspired" washing machines that have nothing to do with cleaning clothes - just making sure that you S_H_A_R_E resources like water and heating fuel for hot water with everybody else regardless of your ability or willingness to pay for those things. These collectivist machines do the deciding how hot the water, how much water, meanwhile guzzle electricity running for an hour on some ordinary cycle. The pretty gadgetry on the control board though should make you F_E_E_L good though. Doesn't it? Don't you feel like you're washing machine is part of a professional laundry where you can play laundry worker if and when you want to?

Give me the old GE we got in 1956 - heck it even had a water saver where it sucked the steaming hot wash water back up out of the laudry tub - great for rugs or filthy jeans etc. And, the water you put in was as hot as you wanted it. And to top it off, detergents still had ingredients that actually cleaned clothes, and inflation-adjusted price for that stuff was half what you pay for it these days.

With a couple easy do-it-yourself repairs that macking lasted 15 years.

We are now living on the Honey Boo Boo planet. Enjoy!

From the looks of the reviews, both here and on other sites, Maytag/Whirlpool quality and service has been on a downhill slide for several years now.

Washer designs have changed considerably over the last decade. They use considerably less water and, as a result, less energy. In this case, Maytag is no different than another.

Maytag's current design includes a Maxima line That I quite like.

The Centennial is considered a crossover piece. It still uses less water, Showering the laundry in place of agitation. It uses something That Maytag Calls MCT, or Maytag commercial technolof
