Sears - Refrigerator Delivery : Bad Experience
Delivery of a Sears Kenmore refrigerator - Complaint
LITTLETON, MASSACHUSETTS -- I ordered a refrigerator from Sears. I had searched on line to make sure that the refrigerator would fit, for the space available was limited for larger sizes. I measured carefully, my husband measured carefully and we even had our neighbor measure carefully! We have 68 1/4” from floor to top of refrigerator and the new refrigerator was 67.7”.
On Jan. 17, 2013, the Sears delivery arrived. They walked into the house, eyeballed the space and said, “we can’t deliver your refrigerator, the space is too small”. We challenged the driver, and demanded that he measured. He measured and stated that “you only have 67 ¼” for height”. Again, we challenged the driver and said we had three people measure the space and each measured 68 1/4”! He shrugged and left, refusing delivery!
I called Sears customer service and they advised me to call a handyman and have them “trim the wooden bottom of the cabinet above the refrigerator. We called Mr. Handyman. They measured 68 1/4”! In addition, they refused to trim the trim, for it “would be noticeable and ruin the cabinet”. Mr. Handyman charged us $48.00.
I called Sears customer service back, told them the story, and arranged for the redelivery of the same refrigerator.
On. Jan. 22, 2013, the refrigerator was re-delivered. This was a different delivery team, very professional. Without any issue of any kind the refrigerator was carried in and easily put in place.
I am writing this for two reasons. I feel that a refund of $48.00 is due, for it was Sears first delivery team that made the error, and refused delivery. Next, to report a delivery team that is unprofessional and has caused us time, money, and worry. We are both senior citizens and do not appreciate this type of treatment.
