SANDY, COLORADO -- I recently did a home renovation and wanted to "upgrade" my appliances. I had been told that Bosch was better than the "GE" type appliances. I purchased about 8K$ , had it installed and everything looked worked fine!!

About 6 months later my Bosch Convection Oven /Microwave module stopped working! Poof- Microwave Kaput!!!

I called Bosch Cust Service- they gave me the local independent service company, took them a week n half to come out to service the unit, has taken over two weeks to order the parts.

Now for the best part- the oven and microwave are a single unit, weighing approx 250 lbs!! No way to detach them- the whole unit has to come out.

Needless to say I am very disappointed in the whole experience and wishing now that I had purchased the less expensive "GE"
appliances. The one's I just tossed were over 20 years old and never missed a lick!!!

I will not be purchasing any more BOSCH appliances for my other home! Buyer beware!!!

Bosch ovens used to be their best product but now that things are made offshore, meh...waste of money. Definitely stay well away from their dishwashers...they dont clean dishes and they break down all the time...always have. Interesting post.

I worked in the appliance industry many years ago, and used to know which brands to recommend. Nowadays it's hard to say, quality varies even within a brand name. Kitchenaid dishwashers were at one time far and away the best out there, then Whirlpool bought the brand and downgraded it and tries to market it (still at a premium price) based on what previously was a quality name brand.
Yet Whirlpool still makes a decent dishwasher in their mid priced models. It's enough to drive you crazy. Electrolux, formerly a high end vacuum cleaner brand, markets a line of appliances as premium quality, but they are just low end Frigidaire units with a premium name on them.
My opinion is that GE still overall makes decent kitchen appliances, particularly in their mid priced cooking appliances, yet I don't hear many good things about their high end products.

I think you just bought a lemon. I feel your pain, it can be very frustrating. We went through 3 Kenmore dishwashers in 5 years. We now have a top of the line Bosch, made in Germany. Great dishwasher!
