Target Has Deceptive Return Policy - Buyer Beware

Women's Clothing - Complaint

CLIFTON, NEW JERSEY -- I purchased two dresses from the Neiman Marcus line on January 6th. Well aware of Target's liberal 90 day return policy I returned the items on Feb. 2nd. I was told that they were not returnable and to look at my receipt. Sure enough in tiny writing on the receipt it stated that the items must be returned by January 15th. Less than 10 days after my purchase! I called Guest Relations - they were no help. I'm stuck with the dresses that do not fit my daughter. Let the buyer beware - Target has very deceptive return policies! I will never shop there again.

Most stores have exceptions to their returns policy. To their credit, Target does print tailor-made announcements on the receipt, which unfotunately you did not see.

I am going to go out on a limb here. Target and Neiman Marcus collaborated to make a special limited edition collection. It seems quite feasible that the reason the return period is s short is that the collection won't be (is no longer being?) offered any longer.

I noticed big signs on the special Neiman Marcus/Target merchandise--returns good only until a specified date. (I wasn't buying these, so I didn't really pay attention to the exact date.)

OP, maybe someone at your work or your daughter's school would be willing to purchase these from you. Perhaps not at the price you paid, but you might be able to recoup some of your expenditure.

i remember seeing the neiman-marcus line in Target a couple of months ago. their sign said you had until Jan 5th to return them. so acutally Target was not being deceptive. the policy on those was in plain sight and they are not at fault. to me what neiman-marcus had Target sell was pretty awful stuff. no wander neiman did not want them back.

If the sign where the item was purchased stated that the return date was January 15 and the receipt stated the same I don't see where they were being deceptive. The return policy was clear.
