HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Think multiple times before you apply for Capital One credit card. I reached US a month ago and I applied for a Capital one credit card. Just because, this is my second time and got a good credit history, my card approved immediately and I gotta email that within next 7 business days I should receive the card. But I received the card only after 15 business days and I called customer service and activated the card. Once my card activated, then I started using the card the whole day. starting from next day the card is disabled and they are checking my identity. I understand that they are doing to protect the identity, but why they can't do all the checks at the time of applying to a credit card??

why can't they verify the credit history and check with bank accounts instead of asking customers to go to bank on weekdays?

Bank policy is out dated and not at all friendly. They use the mail communication for to verify documents and that causes a lot more delay. if they can use email to notify me my card approval, activation etc, why can't they use same email for asking me documents?

totally, I am frustrated with the Capital One credit card and I am doing all the documents upload just to close the account. Even they are not allowing you to close the account. I have already asked my friends and relatives not to apply for Capital One credit card.

Did you call and ask why specifically it was disabled? That does not sound normal - unless there was a suspicious pattern of activity.

For example, if you use your card in geograpically separated areas in a sort period of time, that would trigger such a block. They should be able to tell you specifically why if you call them.

I looked bac and I see you are suggesting they are doing the credit checks etc that should be done prior to issuing a card. That is very, very odd indeed, if that is what is happening. Could this be a special case where they discovered they had overlooked something when they approved you?

Never ever go for capital one credit lines. they are simply terrible and they will embarrass you at some point or the other. They do something called as random checks where they will restrict your account without even informing you and you wont be able to use your card unless you fax them the documents. I found this very strange. Why can't I email them the documents? They won't inform you the reason for block unless you submit the documents. I went ahead and submitted the documents through fax. Then they tell me that they never received my documents and asked me to go to any bank to do bank verification. I did go to Bank of America to get the verification. But after 1 hour of being on phone with the customer service, they tell me that they could not process the bank verification request and I should try some other bank. I got very frustrated but tried one more time at the Virginian Bank. The result was no different. Now I haven't used the card since 9 months and it is just going on on hold. They wont even cancel my account. I do not understand what they except from me and if at all there is fraudulent activity detected on my account, rather than wasting 9 months on just trying to prove my identity, they should work on the fraud which they seem to be least interested in. Worst experience ever and worst customer service. I hope I am able to get rid of them soon.
