Giant Eagle - Reasonable Prices and Decent Customer Service

Grocery - Compliment

HOMESTEAD, PENNSYLVANIA -- I've shopped at this Giant Eagle store for a number of years and they have done a fine job of earning my repeat business. Their staff has been consistently helpful and courteous. Their products in all departments have been varied, fresh and/or of good quality.

The prices here are a bit more, by perhaps an extra $5.00 on a weekly basis from some of their closest competitors, but this is offset by a fuel perks program (which, on average, discounts our gas by around 50 cents to over a dollar per fill up) and by their pharmacy providing 2 diabetic medications (Metformin & Glipizide) and the antibiotic I most commonly use when needed (a penicillin variant) for free. Since my insurance gives flat rate coverage for medicine no matter where I go, this 'for free' program probably saves me an additional $100 or so over a years time.

Additionally, the store is kept clean and gives double coupon value up to 99 cents. I've shopped at some of their other local Giant Eagle stores and have had similar experiences. Overall, I'm pleased with their service and quality. Good job, Giant Eagle #6379. You've made me a satisfied customer.

I know when I'm in Virginia I hit up the local Giant for my Yuengling fix.

Good review Alain.

You must be an employee! LOL!

I'm glad you're happy with your Giant Eagle Market because I sure don't step foot in ours. Their prices are sky high. And their fuel perks program isn't worth it because their 'Get Go' gas station always have gas prices 15 to 20 cents higher than our other local gas stations, so why would I spend $50 worth of groceries to save 10 or 20 cents on gas that will end up costing me the same as any other gas station? It's just not worth it in our location.

I've heard good things about Yuengling, Churro! I think I must be the only guy in PA that hasn't tried it. If it gets your recommendation (and being as you've had some experience with some fine German/European brews, which would indicate you have refined and trained beer rating skills) I'll make a point to pick some up at the my local GE this weekend! DB, I know you aren't a GE fan. As you know, stores vary with location and it sounds like the GE's where you're at could use some tips from the ones where I'm at. Our Get Go has about the same price as other nearby stations and the Giant Beagle is only 2.3 miles from us, so we benefit from their gas programme. Which store do you use just in case I'm in the Cleveland area?
