SEATTLE, WASHINGTON -- The sales lady at JCP in Seattle, Washington was very friendly and helpful. She suggested I apply for a credit card and I would be subject to 20% off right then and there. I asked if there were any limitations (fees / etc.) and she said "No."

I asked whether I could pay online as I am Canadian. She said "Oh sure it's no problem. You just log in and can pay from the website".

What she didn't tell me -- perhaps she didn't know -- is that you MUST have an American chequeing bank account to pay the credit card. I can't pay with a Canadian account of any sort.

When I called customer support, the fellow was very abrupt with me stating that I can only pay the account with an American account. I expressed my frustrating with this lack of information given to me at the time of purchase. He did not give any apology or empathy for my situation. I then stated I want to close my account. He then read me a couple sentences and then asked me "Do you want to close your account?". I said "HELLO?! That's what I just told you I want to do".

So be advised, it is not convenient for Canadians to shop at JCP unless you have an American chequeing account set up to pay for the bill.

Living in Vancouver, BC I have often thought of getting a JCP credit card. Thanx for the heads up!
