MANITOWOC, WISCONSIN -- We replaced our 17 yr. old carpeting with the Mohawk Laminate Rosewood High Gloss. Beautiful floor! We went with the high expectations of the Mohawk name. Mohawk's warranty says that the laminate flooring is water reistant, well it's not! We had a few spills from the kids but was cleaned up immediately. Well those spots are lifting terribly and getting worse as time goes by. I'm now noticing little spots in various areas that are starting to lift.

We don't wear our shoes on the flooring so there's no wear. I clean with a laminate spray cleaner so no moisture is on the floor. We installed a cheaper grade laminate of a different company years earlier than the Mohawk and that flooring is holding up much better than the Mohawk. We had a contractor look at the flooring and he said it was installed correctly and that it should not be lifting the way it is and to contact the company.

I could see if we abused this floor and walked on it with wet shoes but we don't at all. Very disappointed with this floor. We don't have more money to spend on replacing this floor so hope that Mohawk will help us, but that doesn't look like that will happen according to other reviews. I did contact Mohawk so waiting on a response.

It would be very informative if once you hear back from them you let everyone know. They should be given an opportunity to make it right.

Very interesting post, you're timing couldn't be better. I've been shopping for a new dining room floor to replace the scratched laminate left by the previous owner & their dog. I was trying to decide whether to go with laminate again, engineered wood or real wood.

Let's review. Laminate looks great but it's plastic and not real wood. As you stated it's not water resistant and can't be refinished.

Engineered wood is a veneer top layer with multiple layers of plain wood underneath. Difficult to refinish and may not be possible.

Real wood. Very durable and can be refinished. Moisture and humidity may cause expansion and contraction. This has been time tested, has natural beauty and offers the best combination. This is the product I'm going with.
