PAWTUCKET, LOUISIANA -- I called Saturday at 7:00pm, reported a flat tire and needed assistance. They said somebody would be out by 10:00. When they got here, they said their service jack wasn't big enough and to call in the morning and request a tow truck to lift the back of the truck. So, I did and the girl assured me it would be taken care of. She told me the truck would be here by 10:00am which it was, but it wasn't a tow truck. It was the same truck as the night before and the driver told me they don't do work vans unless I remove all the weight. I asked him what I'm supposed to do with all my parts, put them in the snow? They were mostly light parts electronic boards etc. So, I called the girl back at AAA and told her to refund my money, this policy is a joke and this was the first time I ever needed them and they can't do anything. They didn't tell me this when I took the policy out.

There are different levels of AAA membership; off the top of my head the normal one, then Plus, and also one for RV's that may cover some class of truck as well.

If their jack would not jack whatever "van" you had, with its loading, it may be out of the class of the coverage that you have (had). AAA is historically for travellers and people whose cars break down locally.

It's a bit hard to fully evaluate your complaint without knowing what membership you have (had), and what kind of vehicle it is and how much weight you had in it. If the tow truck driver mentioned removing items on board (so to speak), it sounds like you were transporting quite a volume/weight.

Does Pawtucket Louisiana get that much snow? I'm betting that Pawtucket Rhode Island is hammered right now though.

AAA is meant for passenger cars/light trucks (unless you get the RV membership) - should have checked with them before signing up to see if the work truck would be covered.

There are "umbrella" services (Fleetnet is one)for trucks that provide a single point of contact, and will then arrange for the nearest service provider to come out, and then bill your business. The tire services they deal with wouldn't need to unload your work van before jacking it up - they have jacks that can lift an axle on a 53 foot trailer carrying over 40,000 pounds of cargo.
