Skil IXO screw driver - Complaint

MT. PROSPCT, ILLINOIS -- I bought Skil IXO Li Ion Screwdriver about 4-5 months ago for $24.99. I am not a professional and hence the usage is on a lighter side. It would not hold charge and needed a recharge after approx. 5 minutes of use. I contacted Skil Warranty Support and they informed me that I need to send the tool first using FedEx or UPS (costing about $15). They will investigate and see what they can do? They never gave me a confirmation that they will send me a replacement or what they may do? On asking they told me that if there are no manufacturing defect found, then they will ask me for the returned shipment prior to sending it back to me. Who needs this kind of service from a cheap [snip] company?

I would advise not to buy any Skil tools and go with Black and Decker.

The warranty that you describe sounds fairly standard on that class of tool. Customer pays the shipping. It's too bad it failed so quickly.
