Verizon FIOS - Unforgiven Pay For View Mistake

Verizon Fios Tv - Complaint

NEWARK, DELAWARE -- I've been a Verizon customer for over ten years. Bought their bundle when we moved to another state three years ago as well. I have never purchased their pay for view except once by mistake. Sometimes my hands shake and one morning I tuned into CNN, my channel 100 and inadvertently punched 1000, a pay for view channel. I often hit the okay button when changing channels as it comes up quicker. I was half asleep and my channel didn't come up so I hit the okay button. Guess what? On comes a wrestling match. I called customer service and was told they could not credit me the $30 charge. The aggravation caused me to try again and I emailed to customer service and got the same negative response, but they added the comment that to get a pay for view channel, the process was more complicated than what I did. That's balderdash! They as much said I was trying to pull a fast one. Its bugged me ever since and so I am writing this complaint. I isn't just the $30 but its the insult that bugs me. For the money I send them monthly you would think they would be a little more understanding!

They don't know for certain that you didn't purchase the program on purpose, had buyer's remorse/decided you didn't like it, and are just trying to get a refund. I think they put a "no refunds" clause into those contracts. As far as the CSR saying that you would have to go through more steps than you're reporting you did; it could be that she's referring to the fact that many people put PIN numbers on their PPV features to act as a double check before buying and to keep their kids/other household members from buying programs without permission.

Thats ridiculous. I can see if you did this all the time........but a one time mistake???? absurd.

One thing you will take away from this, based on the description, is to be very careful when tuning to CNN.

I'm leaning towards clutzy's observations. Unfortunately some people will try to use the reason you gave as an excuse to scam the provider, and it's possible they can't discern between the two.

You could have argued it was only on for a few seconds until you changed channels again. How can they say you really watched it?

This was an honest mistake. Many times I have been too fast with the remote and almost ordered a PPV event. Verizon does give you a warning for what you are about to order. To prevent a mistake take Clutzy's advise and add a Pin number to be safe.

All Verizon is about is Corporate GREED. Just look behind the face of their advertising, always changing the enrollment fee and never outlining the true c cost of service.

They claim they are fast. I switched to a local cable company and have absolutely no problem with speed.
