Target - Snow Removal

Complaint

TOPEKA, KANSAS -- I went to the Target Store in Topeka, KS today and it had not snowed for 12 hours. I am handicapped and parked in the handicapped parking spots. It appeared that Target or whoever owns the property had made no attempt to clear the snow from the area.

Given that Topeka has just had a pretty sizable winter storm this doesn't surprise me. The snow removal services are probably running behind schedule and 12 hours isn't that much time for them to catch up.

Topeka was just whacked with a storm, and I believe they are expecting another. It is hard to judge from a distance what you report, but it doesn't come as a surprise.

Actually, I am not sure what exactly the issue is, if you were able to park in the handicapped spot. Has no plowing at all occurred, some covering of packed down snow, etc?

It may be wise to find out who owns the property in case this happens again - then you could call the appropriate place and complain.

We got hit with the blizzard a couple of weeks ago in CT and there are places still being plowed out, lol. 12 hours is nothing. Most of the snow plowers that do the parking lots were the ones out during the storm attempting to keep up with the snow and making it safe for our first responders!

I doubt Target owns the parking lot. The stores are usually leased, and the owner of the property is the reponsible party. I am sure the manager did all he could to get his area of the lot plowed, but, as others have noted, sometimes Mother Nature does not cooperate

Feel lucky. Here in Washington, when they plow the parking lots, they always pile the snow in the handicap spaces. This is a separate issue from the people in the stores treating you like you are invisible if you use a mobility device.
