Panasonic Viera 50" Plasma--CRAP

Complaint

PLAINVIEW, TEXAS -- One month out of warranty, almost to the day, our Panasonic Viera 50" Plasma TV (after working perfectly fine the day before) at random wouldn't turn on and flashed seven blinking lights. A quick Google search revealed that this is an incredibly common problem with Panasonic Viera TVs.

Not only have the people at Panasonic been completely incompetent (lost my e-mail address multiple times; never called me back), they are completely unwilling to pay for the repairs anymore than a small fraction of the cost for an obvious manufacture defect. We paid $850 for a TV that lasted 13 months.

It looks like Panasonic has (had) a problem somewhat like the one Samsung also had - power supply issues. It stinks that Panasonic won't help you, if your set it one of the ones affected by more than the normal number of failures.

Its amazing. I still have a perfectly good color TV that was made in the 80s....yet these new TVs you cant even get 2 years out of...so sad the way quality has diminished in this country.
