Priceline - Rental Car Size Did Not Match Size That Rental Car Co. Offers!

Complaint

I used Priceline for the first time, this February and it was a complete failure. I rented a mid-size SUV from their website at a great price. When I got to AVIS, they have nothing called mid-size and wanted to put me in their smallest SUV. I had to pay extra for their Mid-Size. Priceline did nothing to help me and said their parameters match their vendors which is not true as their sizes in no way matched what AVIS had and they were free to put me in any size they wanted! Verify with rental companies, before you lock in. Priceline's customer service is non-existent. Shame on you William Shatner!!

I am somewhat confused. You indicated that AVIS had nothing called "mid-size" yet you paid extra for their "mid-size".

Personally, I never use third party sites for rental cars, hotels or airlines. Always go directly to the company.

leet - I think what the OP means is there is some discrepancy between what is listed as "mid-sized SUV" at Priceline and what a consumer and Avis would consider a mid-sized SUV in reality.

I agree - book directly. This OP mentions "great price" and that is the carrot that sucks people into these third party sites. Personally, I take a "get what you pay for" approach.
