SAN BERNARDINO -- I purchased food at KFC store # e791046 at 4694 university parkway in San bernardino, Calif on 02/28/13 for a friend and myself. We used the drive-thru and was so far satisfied with the service. Upon payment I used my debit card to pay. I received a receipt for it, got the food and left to return home. Later on that evening I decided to check my banking and went online to bank of America, well to my surprise I noticed that the cashier (kish) had rung up my order twice but it did not show on my receipt. Only my checking statement. I am writing you because if this has happened to me, how many others has she done this to..Please look into this matter for me as I will not be returning to KFC for a long time now, as I feel invaded now..

It is likely that neither the cashier nor KFC did anything wrong. Sometimes the system that process payments does a hiccup and authorizes twice. Usually the bank picks up on it immediately, but even if they don't it dies a natural death in short order, and only one will actually post to your account.

Probably a mistake. It can happen. Unless she took your card and used it elsewhere, i dont think its fraud. Just dispute the charge.

You can dispute debit card charges if in error. My bank does.

It could have been an honest mistake. Bring your checking statement and receipt back to the restaurant and show it to them. They will hopefully fix it for you.

If this happened to me, I would contact that location by phone or in person. Writing an email may not result in the response you are hoping for.

This may be a mistake on the CSR's part, which would not necessarily be "fraud". There is some chance perhaps the second charge was a preauthorization that that will automatically go away in a day. Good luck.

I don't know why it happens to peoples debit cards and why it is only at some retailers but it does happen often that when using debit cards it will show twice on your statement..One will be deducted from your account the other will show as pending for day or two but will just go away..It happens all the time..So before accusing someone for fraud or theft you should get the facts first.

It is confusing isn't it? Does your debit card have a Visa or MasterCard logo? If it does, it probably rang through as a credit card and that first charge is an authorization. It should fall off in a few days. If it doesn't just call your bank and they will fix it for you.

It is very easy to panic over double charges.

Here is a pretty good explaination.
