Verizon Wireless - Customer Service Is Absolutely Terrible

SOUTH DAKOTA -- I have been a customer of Verizon Wireless for over 12 years. I currently have 4 lines on my contract of which one contract is up and the other is up in July 2013 or upgrade now. Here is my problem...I need to cancel two of the lines as they are eligible or soon to be. I called customer service to see if I could cancel two lines and was specific as to what phone numbers I needed to keep. She told me I could not do it and would not let me transfer the number of the phone I wanted to keep and still have two lines on the account. She would rather have me cancel my contracts instead of helping a longtime valued customer.
