Metropolitan Insurance Co - Beware Met Life
Life Insurance Claim - Complaint

SCRANTON, TENNESSEE -- Filed a claim 2.5 years ago on a group life insurance policy of a deceased Aunt. Now almost 3 years later we are still waiting on the proceeds of this claim.
Met Life has continually requested various documents and uses numerous excuses why the claim has not been paid. I have previously filed life insurance claims on my parents policies from other insurance companies which were all paid in less than one month requiring only a completed claim form and death certificate!
But not Met Life, they use the delay tactics of a "slick politician" to keep the proceeds in their own account as long as possible.
If you can avoid it Do Not Deal In Anyway With Metropolitan Insurance, they wrote the book on "Bad Faith Claims Practices"!If you must deal with them, save yourself time and lots of frustration...hire an attorney to file the claim.

Have you considered your own advice - hiring an attorney?
As you say, in my experience life insurance claims are paid within a month - something is clearly wrong here.
