LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS -- Late last year my wife purchased a pack of 100 Staples brand CD-R disks to be used in a project in January of this year. The products purchased would not burn properly. At first we thought it was a format issue so we tried a Sony brand disk of with the same specifications. It worked fine. She tried to return the defective discs to Staples and because they are classified as "Electronics" they could not be returned. Even after a call to Staples head office, they still could not be returned because of the classification they fell under.

Needless to say she was not happy and we have decided to take our business elsewhere.

Thats ridiculous. I can understand if you were just trying to return them, but they are defective....you should get your money back. This is the reason lot of these stores are losing business to wal mart. Wal mart will let you return anything, regardless if its defective or not, and these other stores give you a tough time....and wonder why they are losing money.

Staples return policy does not clearly specify what items are considered "electronics". It does, however, refer to "technology" items and specifies a 14 day return period. Was the return attempt within the 14 day period?
