Car Rental - Complaint
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK -- I am a Hertz 5-Star Gold member. I rented a car at the Laguardia Airport. The car pre-selected for me was small. I picked one from Gold choice. While exiting I asked, "does this car have EZ Pass?" The answer was, "Yes, see it on your windshield?" I drove off to my hotel in North Jersey. When entering the toll both to cross the bridge the arm did not raise preventing me from passing. It was midnight, no one around, no cars on the road - no one at the toll booth. After waiting for 10 minutes I backed up two car lengths looking for help. I flagged down someone who came over to help. It was a NY Cop who gave me a ticket for backing up on a highway. Because the rental company did not do their part I am having to pay for a ticket. The cop explained I should take the defective EZ pass issue up with my rental company and proceeded to write me a citation.
Since I am from out of state, I can't fight it. I explained my unpleasant experience with Hertz to only receive my standard bill in my email inbox.
