Circuit City Complaint - 24 minutes or $24 gift card pickup guarantee
VIRGINIA -- On two occasions, I surfed the web looking for the best deal. First for portable speakers for my daughters Ipod ($29) and second for a new computer (tower only).
On both occastions I decided that I would test Circuit City's 24/$24 guarantee.
I received and printed the confirmation email and within minutes I was on my way to the store. For the first order I arrived at the pick up counter, approximately 30 minutes had elapsed since my confirmation order was printed. I was asked to wait while they pulled my order. When I asked them about the guarantee the cashier told me that my purchase was only $29. I was sure that the guarantee said any purchase over $25 but I just took my purchace and went home.
On the second trip, I printed out the guarantee so as to eliminate any discrepencies. When I got to the pick up area there was one person in front of me. But when I got up to the counter 40 minutes had elapsed and they still did not have my order ready. The cashier argued that the guarantee did not apply. This time I asked to speak to a manager - who also stated to me that my order was a "load" order (meaning that they need to be loaded into your car) and that load orders were not covered under the guarantee. After about 5 minutes of telling her about the ads showing tvs, computers, stereos, etc I left frustrated and called Circuit City customer service.
Their customer service called the store and two days later the manager I had spoken to said that she would send me a gift card in the mail. When I received the gift card there was also a copy of my sales receipt with the cost of the $24 gift card ADDED to my credit card!
Once again I called customer service, since I got better results that way - but this time the complaint has yet to be resolved.
Today I will make my LAST trip to Circuit City.
