NEW YORK -- We were told that Tanzanite Jewelry would increase in value of $100 per year. Purchase price per pendant approx $300 each. I have gone to several Jewelers and they say there is no market in New Brunswick, Canada. I have put ads on websites no interest. If what they said was true-each would be approx $ 1000.00. When I sent a request to Maria [snip] she ignores me-she is with Starboard complaints dept. I have sent her message at least 7 times.

I called the 1800 number but customer service is pathetic. They stalled and said-we are only the retailer. We don't know what you were told -I was left with dead air and never got any response. I told him I will not let this go -needless to say I am angry. I feel like I have useless jewelry on my hand. Never worn, put away for selling at a later date.

I dabble in jewelry making as a hobby, and remember reading that for the most part, jewelry purchased by the average person is a very poor investment - most of the cost of "average" jewelry is for the labor. You've been taken, same as another poster who was sold a "rare" yellow beryl on a cruise ship. There's a lot of reason your necklaces won't increase in value - they are mass-produced pieces, at $300 dollars the stones are not collector/museum quality, there is plenty of AAA quality tanzanite around,
probably not a lot of gold used. Keep trying and you will be able to sell them, but most likely at a considerable loss. Investing in jewelry/metals and real estate is something to stay out of unless you know what you are doing - BTW cruise ships mostly registered in other countries is unlikely you will get any action on this.
