Hotels - Hotel Reservations: How to Avoid "Cancellation Charges" !
Any Hotel in General
For hotels in general:
OK; you've made a reservation at a hotel. However, the day before your departure, suddenly you have to cancel your trip due to unforeseen circumstances.
If you call to cancel your hotel reservation, they will charge you a 'service fee' for the short-notice cancellation.
"Short term" may refer to anywhere from 1 to 3 days notice and the charge may be up to $50.00!!!
Do NOT cancel - call and RESCHEDULE your check-in date to 7 days later.
Then call back in 2 or 3 day to cancel your reservation, thus avoiding charges for short-notice cancellation fee.
Just watched a "What they don't want you to know" type broadcast about hotels.
Mentioned that some hotel housekeeper will spray their generic household cleaner [the same stuff they use to clean counters, mirrors, etc] on the drinking glasses to make them "clean" & "spotless"!
So wash them yourself when you check in!
Also that if the hotel get a complaint of bedbug, they MAY simply turn the mattress over after you check out. YECH!
And heaven help you if you should ever shine a black light [who carries those around?] on the bedspread - it reveal "human secretions" [sperm, etc].
Typically, the house-cleaning staff won't steal from your baggage while you are away but many time will peak through your belonging out of curiosity.
