New Jersey Transit - Kudos to NJTransit - They Found and Returned My Lost Backpack!

NJTransit Lost & Found - Compliment

NYC, NEW YORK -- NJTransit gets lots of grief from riders, but I'm going to pay them a complement. I'm a commuter and ride the same Morris Line train daily between Dover NJ and NYC Penn Station. Two weeks ago, however, I had to take a Montclair train from Penn Station and, in my haste to get off at an unfamiliar stop, left my backpack on the baggage rack - along with my contact lenses, bifocals, and $50 cash. I didn't expect to ever see the backpack or its contents again but, none the less, I called NJTransit Lost & Found to report the loss. They took my phone number and a description of the backpack, and gave me an incident number. A week later I got a phone call to let me know that my backpack was found and waiting for me at NYC Penn Station. All my belongings were intact - even the $50. Kudos to NJTransit Lost & Found - and especially to the Montclair Line conductor (and any other NJTransit employees) to took the trouble to return my lost backpack!

Nice compliment letter. I used NJT for 4 years while in college and loved it. I saw a complaint recently that lead me to believe service may not be what it used to be, but your experience reminds me of what it was like 30 years ago.
