Dish Network - Avoid Like The Plague!
TV Satellite "Service" with "Free HD" - Complaint
ENGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA -- Bait and switch, not full disclosure of all charges when you sign up for any promo package. Horrible "customer service" as, although some reps are very courteous and try to help, their hands are tied as there is no "history of issues" regarding everything from billing to fouled up appointments --- was "stood up" 3 times and told it was because "I had cancelled"! --- Outrageous!
I have been a customer for one year and never received one "correct" bill. Had to check my credit card every month to see what I was actually charged --- easier than calling in every month to say, that I had been billed an incorrect amount. Spent hours and hours on phone until finally found corporate number. Initially most of CS reps were in a foreign country.
I thought DTV had poor "CS" but by comparison, it is 5 star! Read the fine print, ask questions and beware of receiving "free equipment" --- I finally learned that "charges" go with equipment. So ask how much the lease/rental fee per month is for your DVR, Hopper or even HD 2 room --- you only get a 1 room HD receiver included with your monthly “package” of channels for "free" that "mirrors to a 2nd room."
You have to check your statement every month. And keep track of when your “free promo movie, BB packages, etc. expire --- as, if you don’t cancel any you don’t want to continue, they will automatically charge you for all of them --- And, you will see a huge increase in your monthly fees. After installation, demand a copy of all terms and conditions, as installer will only have a small electronic tablet where you have to sign
about 6 times.
The only good thing were the Dish techs who did installations and service for North County, San Diego. They were excellent. However, when I had an auto phone call to rate and review them, it disconnected me before I could give them an A! All downhill
from then on.
As to reception, although I was told I had a “very strong signal,” I had pixilation and intermittent
problems with audio, but not being a masochist, would not call for a tech visit after being waylaid 3 times before I finally connected with one when requested a service call..
The HD is good and clear when not “breaking up on my favorite HD channel” --- the network Jeopardy is on, although very crisp and clear in comparison to non-HD, but think DTV’s is just as good at my kid’s house.
My “year with Dish” has been a nightmare and I still have one to go at double the cost --- Ugh!
This will probably never make it to "Dish Reviews" but I plan to post it elsewhere.(
