DirectTV Has Overcharged Me From Day One!
Satellite TV - Complaint
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA -- DirectTV is very good at getting money out of people's bank accounts with confusing contract agreements and customer unfriendly bill formats such as breaking the bill into ten or more different individual charges then showing a similar long, wordy list of credits and discounts that are impossible to keep track of and never quite add up the way they're supposed to.
I have no problem with the product or the customer service, but with the slimy weasels who run the company. They draw up the paperwork so that they can find ways to tell customers a price that sounds good, and then once you sign they charge you whatever they want.
I have an AT&T wireless account and earlier this year a representative in the store sold me on ditching my local cable provider and signing up for DirectTV through ATT. I made the switch since I was told if I signed up for DirectTV and Uverse internet combined my bill for the two services altogether would cost about $80, roughly $25 for internet and $50 for DirectTV (according to the package I had chosen) plus tax. My bill amounts for the two services for the last four months have been, respectively, $240.20 (for which I did receive a $150 rebate), $147.42, $103.56, and $141.45.
When I call to ask why my bill is more than it should be I always have to speak with at least two different people. I have been told that they have recognized a mistake and have made a credit to my account. Well guess what, the credit never shows up. So I call again and am told that the person I spoke to meant the next next bill when she told me it would appear on my next bill.
I chose the CHOICE DirectTV package when I signed up at the AT&T store. My bill has listed a charge for XTRA. When I noticed I called (again), they apologized for the mistake and said it had been taken care of, but lo and behold my next bill has a charge for XTRA. So I call (again) and am told that the CHOICE package no longer exists and that the names of the packages have changed.
Once while on the phone with a DirectTV representative (who I will say are always courteous), I visited the DirectTV website to help find an answer to a question. The website offered the CHOICE package for $34.99/mo. for 12 months with a 24 month agreement. I mentioned this to the representative and he said he had no knowledge of it and that he could not offer it to me.
