MTA - Ridiculous

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK -- So I go to the train station on canal and varick, go to the toll booth and tell the female teller and tell her I need a forty dollar metro card and I have a hundred dollar bill. She states l have change for my customers. I tell her I am a customer she says no go get change the change I have is for my customer, I tell where am I suppose to get change, she says there are plenty of stores around get change and come back.

Like really that's ridiculous I was buying a forty dollar metro card there are no signs saying you can't buy a metro card with a one hundred bill that is bad customer service. I literally had to walk to fourteen street trying to get on the train, I am epileptic, asthmatic and had to walk all that with my heavy bags from work. Signs should be posted.

You're right - signs should be posted. I can understand that they do not accept $100 bills - most places will not.

If you read the notes on all U.S. currency you'll see that "THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE." Therefore it is illegal not to accept a $100 bill.
