ECampus.com - Late Payment for Book Buyback
After the spring semester, I decided to sell one of my textbooks back to eCampus. com. I've purchased from them before and they were reliable but I had never sold a book back to them. I shipped my book to them using their prepaid label and waited for 2 weeks. Usually, when I sell my books, I get paid within 24-48 hours after the book has been processed. Not so with eCampus. I got an email saying they had received the book and I would receive the money within 2-4 WEEKS! It did not say this ANYWHERE on their website and I was very irritated and upset that I was not notified about this sooner. If I had known, I would have shipped somewhere else.
Regardless, I waited 2 weeks and never received anything. I was getting tired of waiting so I emailed them to see what the status was on my buyback. If I wasn't angry already, their response was infuriating. Instead of paying me in 2-4 weeks, their buyback time was delayed to 4-6 weeks! I emailed the customer service representative asking if there was a way to have my book shipped back to me but, of course, they had already sold it. I was forced to endure 2 more weeks without the money. Being a college student is hard enough without someone holding your money for no reason. However, they offered me $10 credit even though I will probably never use it.
Finally, today, I received the money in my bank account. I will NEVER do business with eCampus regarding buybacks. It is apparent to me that they are not equipped to handle them. Why does it take everyone else 24-48 hours and they want you to wait 2-4 weeks at best?!? I do not recommend them. They need to post a disclaimer on their site warning people of the wait time.
