Hendrick Automotive Complaint - Over-servicing
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- Over a 5-year period my wife always dropped off her CRV at Hendrick Honda when the SERVICE light came on with instructions to perform scheduled service. WITHOUT CLEARLY IDENTIFYING IT AS SUCH and without asking her, they performed SEVERE CONDITIONS service which totalled nearly $500 in premature and unnecessary charges during the term. The assistant service manager claimed that "9 out of 10" cars they get require severe condidtions; (this sounds like it should be normal, not severe!) He also claimed that this is common practice at HENDRICK AUTOMOTIVE DEALERSHIPS and he refused to commit to at least begin identifying on the invoice the service performed as SEVERE CONDITIONS, saying the owner should compare the service performed with the service recommended in the manual to determine what was done.
I suspect this is done at many more dealerships than Hendrick, so I recommend all to see if your dealer is bilking you on premature services without clearly identifying them.
