Direct TV - Good Picture - Costly Service; $5 Fee to Talk to Live Tech Rep!
Customer Service Live Rep
CINCINNATI, OHIO -- Our purchase of a pay-per-view movie was executed, but we could not see any picture, "output not compatible" message shown on the view channel. Multiple options tried, still no movie. Call Direct TV, go through the answer routine with their computer, ask for a tech representative $5 fee to speak with a live representative. Bogus charge! This is their problem, with their equipment. Direct TV makes a habit of sneaky fees, and little known fees to gouge money out of customers.
Businesses have to make money, but Direct TV goes about it in many aggressive ways. Don't fall for the "100 channels for $29.95" hype. A third of those channels are Spanish, home shopping, and other chaff. Add Installation Fee, HD Fee $10, DVR Fee $10, 2nd Receiver Fee $5, Whole House Fee $10, Upgrade to more Channels, Activation Fee, etc. Now you're up to $75 a month, or more - for two years, minimum. Early Cancelation Fee is $20/month, plus "Unreturned Equipment Fee" of $200 - $300 per cable box. When the sound goes out and their cable box has to be replaced, you are paying $49 service call!
Yes, the picture is good. Be prepared to pay for it in many ways. Direct TV only succeeds because the pricing of other cable providers is also way too high. And, their customer service is typically abysmal to boot. That's why we are all looking for more programs from the Internet.
