Discover Card Complaint - Unethical Practices when Cancelling Card
FREMONT, CALIFORNIA -- When I attempted to cancel my Discover Card, the support center handed me over to a special account services where they try to retain you as a customer. They offered me a 40$ gas rebate. I thought it was a great deal. Later I used the card, and found that I really did not get such a credit to stay on board. They told me that they don't provide such deals. In essence, they felt I was a liar. I wanted to give them one last chance, but clearly they wanted me to do a few more charges. I felt completely misled. Discover Card is using fraudulent tactics to keep people on board. A company which is not honest will be their downfall.
If you want to cancel your card, you should be allowed to do it. I have been cancelling cards with other companies with no problem. Discover is the only company with a special division whose focus is to deter consumers from cancelling their cards. Do not listen to those people they lie and swindle their way with false promises to maintain customers. They do not realize that a good service and honesty are the keys to retaining customers. Trust me it be a better world when this company disappears.
